ACTIVITY & OTHER REPORTS

The Trust has been concentrating its activities relating to child welfare and its related matters from the date of Incorporation. It has zeroed its developmental works particularly to underdeveloped children who are uncared for & almost disowned by the society. As earlier, we have been actively engaged in collaboration with the Educational Institution abroad and have been able to interact with our UK partner namely Hounslow Heath Junior School, UK.Since we are in touch with them and exchanged our views inasmuch as completed the project works being provided to us by our UK partner. To sum up, it is for the better understanding that we would like to mention the following few lines: -

  • Our Foreign Partner has appreciated our project.
  • They have sent 31numbers of stationary packets on 05/08/2006 solely for the distribution of the poor and downtrodden children who were directly under our Supervision for a pretty long time.
  • They have also send sample T-Shirts for the children who are under our guidance and willing to send large quantity of cloths as per our requirement. It is very important to note that they are very much interested to work for the upliftment of these children through our Trust.
  • The UK Partner is also willing to donate and fundraise on our behalf for the street children of Orissa. To this end we are in active communication with them and pursuing the matters time and again for which they were also interested to send Software materials namely computer and CDs etc.solely for the purpose of these street childrens. Meanwhile we have sent number of photographs, reports relating to these children's thereby enabling them to know the conditions of these childrens. Infact they are appalled as to how these children's are leading their life in misery. However we hope in the coming days we would be able to breakthrough certain activities which will not only be appreciated by them, but also benefit these children. Of course to some extent they have expressed their inability since we lack in acquiring FCRA Certificate, which is mandatory requirement for getting any Foreign Donation. We hope we will be able to meet these requirements in the near future.
  • The DFID Global School Partnerships has also allowed both of us to apply for Reciprocal Visit Programmes for which DFID will bear the Traveling & Boarding expenses. After such visit then they will allot funds for co curricular activities. Our Partnership Information has already been included in the database of DFID by virtue of signing the agreement deed by both of us.
  • It is important to state that our foreign partner has also given consent to fundraise for a Mini Van for the children and one more School is also interested to join our Foreign Partner named Heathson School of UK.

The Trust has also applied for setting up M.E.School to the Directorate of Elementary Education, Orissa at chandaka, Bhubaneswar for which the ground works i.e; Demarcation, Acquisition, Bhumi Puja and conversion etc.of the said land has been finalized. Though we are running informally but now we would like to formalize everything after getting accreditation from Government of Orissa. The School will accommodate only poor children and they will be given informal education, which is utmost necessary for eradication of illiteracy from the society. It is not out of place to mention here that, there will be no dearth of fund to run the School cum Shelter House since our UK Partner has assured us to vigorously work with us .We are optimistic in this regard.

This year we observed WORLD DAY-Prevention of Child Abuse on 19 th Nov 2006 by distributing pamphlets and inviting children's on the same day. Our main aim is to keep children safe. We held a meet on abolition of child labour and implementation of Right to education as envisaged in Article 21 and 21A of the Constitution of India. The constitutional Amendment has provided for free and compulsory education for all children in the age group of 6 to 14years as a Fundamental Right under Article 21A of the Constitution. For this activity we are being accepted as Supporting member of WWSF (Women's World Summit Foundation), Geneva , which has been reflected in the Poster of WWSF, and also been distributed freely to kids and children.

Child Protection is a responsibility to be shared and it will be our pleasure to work together to build & maintain a child-safe environment, where the rights of children are promoted, respected & protected without discrimination.

It is not out of place to mention here that during the month of Oct2006 the Trust arranged a Camp for providing free meals to street children especially the Slum Dwellers, Child Laborers, Rag pickers, teenagers etc.

TRAINING ON COMPUTER AWARENESS TO CHILDREN

This year we are able to train a few children in various computer centers for having a fundamental idea on computers. Since our foreign partners from U.K were eager to communicate with our children through electronic device, it becomes indispensable for us to train our children so that they can be credible enough to communicate with our UK Partner. The training was given in such a manner that each student could independently chart with our foreign Partner (student) of UK .

CHILD LABOUR & LAW

There are about 15provisions of Constitution, which provide legal support to children who work in different situation. We realized that unless the economic situation of the families improved the child labour issue couldn't be dealt with. We motivated the parents through our Volunteers which resulting into child laborers being brought back to School. There are several cases where child laborers are now pursuing higher studies. It is important to mention here the fact that these parents have realized the importance of education of their children. Now they are allowing their children & sending them to School without any obstruction.
